Stuffed Chicken Bread Bajji

Here I have used chicken stuffing but if you are short of time, you can also make the simple dish without any stuffing. Try this in your evening tea time and I am sure you and your family will love it.

Stuffed Chicken Bread Bajji

Recipe Ingredients

  • 7 bread slices
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • Salt as needed
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried coriander powder
  • 1 green chili (finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped mint
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Water as desired

Chicken stuffing:

  • 1 cup boiled and shredded chicken
  • ½ cup finely chopped onion (or leeks if you like)
  • 2 green chilies (finely chopped)
  • Salt as needed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Recipe Instructions

  1. Take gram flour in a bowl and add salt, black pepper, dried coriander powder, cumin seeds, green chilies and chopped mint, mix well then add desired water to make a semi thick liquid. Neither too thick nor too thin or watery. Set aside until use.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add onion, sauté for 4 minutes or until translucent then add garlic paste, cumin powder, lemon juice, green chilies, red chili powder and shredded chicken and cook for 3 more minutes with constant stirring. Season with salt.
  3. Take a bread slice and spread the chicken mixture over it. Cover with another bread and then cut into 2 equal triangles. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the bread slices and chicken mixture.
  4. In the meanwhile heat oil in a pan for deep frying then dip each chicken sandwich into the gram flour mixture and then slowly add to the hot oil. Fry for about 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. When ready take out in a serving dish with a paper towel in it to absorb extra oil.
  6. Repeat the same procedure with all of the bread sandwiches and serve the chicken stuffed bread bhajji with chilled mint chutney or tomato ketchup. Serve hot.
