Yield – 4
Difficulty Level – Easy
Recipe Ingredients
For dough:
- 2 cups white flour
- Salt as needed
- Black pepper as needed
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- Water as needed
For filling:
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 1 carrot (peeled and finely chopped)
- 1 green bell pepper (finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- Salt as needed
- Black pepper as needed
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Recipe Instructions
- Mix together the white flour, salt, black pepper, oil and add enough water to make a thick dough. Knead well until the dough is smooth and fine in texture.
- In the meanwhile, heat oil in a frying pan and add onion, sauté for 3 to 4 minutes or until translucent then add green bell pepper, carrot and sugar. Again sauté for 2 more minutes.
- Add salt, black pepper, soy sauce and vinegar and cook for 1 more minute.
- Remove from heat and set aside until next use.
- Make small 1 to 1.5 inch balls and gently flatten with your palms, then dust the working board and place the dough on the board. Further flatten with your roller pin to make around 2 inch round, neither too thick nor too thin to handle. Then carefully place the filling at the center of the dough. Wrap up the filling by covering the dough and twist at the top to seal.
- Grease your steamer walls and place the dumplings in the steamer. Steam for about 10 to 12 minutes or until cooked properly.
- Take out and serve with your favorite chutney.
- (You can also shallow fry your vegetable momos in oil before serving)
